Wooden Fence Designs

Same with other materials used to build fences, wood likewise provides security, privacy, and add natural beauty to any property. Additionally, wood is a cheaper building material compared to metal and concrete. Your particular choice among the numerous wooden fence designs should be based on you and your family or property’s needs. Some designs are purposely installed to prevent intrusion or limit movement within the yard by children and animals. There are those providing privacy or adding up some value to the property.

Wooden fences for cheap fencing are typically made out of sturdy and durable wood or timber like pine, cedar, locust, spruce and many others. For those who are not familiar with fencing using wood material, there are numerous wooden fence designs to choose from. All of which fall under the following general categories:
Picket Wood Fences – Picket fences or the board-and-stringer designs are probably the most popular and common style. They are characterized by having two rails or stringers installed parallel unto the ground where pickets are nailed observing equal spaces. They are then secured by larger vertical post bored unto the ground serving as foundations. The tip of the pickets are often pointed or curved in various styles, such as the curved dog ear or angular, English Gothic, French Gothic, or a combination of the English and French Gothic. Coating and painting would be the finishing touch when working on this type of wood fencing project.
Rail Wood Fences – The rail designs or commonly known as the split-rail fences that are fully made out of whole timber with sizes ranging from the thin branches or to the medium tree trunks. Installation is crisscrossed or alternated and often constructed in a zigzag pattern. All the wood are put in place either by wire, durable string, or wooden nails.
Panel Wood Fences – Panel fences are wooden fence designs installed to preserve privacy since there is minimal to zero spaces in between the wood panels or vertical pieces abutted to the next. You would only need to decide the height for you to be able to have an outside view. To allow certain degree of airflow, each fence piece is nailed alternately.

Lattice Wood Fences – When it comes to designing with wood, nothing beats the various lattice fence designs. They are typically characterized by screen-like features with holes designed either as square, diagonal, some oblong and circles, etc. This type of fencing is ideally used in the garden.
The wooden fence designs are not limited to those that are mentioned above. Wood is a very flexible material that any concept, idea, or design can only be limited by the creativity of the craftsman.
